Why Crate Train?

Crate training teaches your dog that she has her own safe place to hang out and relax. By slowly introducing your dog to her crate, she doesn’t see it as a place of punishment, but rather a place where good things happen. Having a safe place to put your dog when you can’t keep a close eye on her allows you to relax as well, knowing that she won’t be eating your computer cord while you’re in the shower, for example! The crate is also helpful when house training your puppy (see house training). Additionally, a crate can be very useful in keeping your dog safe if she is ever injured and needs to be on restricted activity. Crates are also useful for traveling - providing your dog with a familiar place wherever you go. Read more about how to crate train your dog here.
